Local furniture manufacturer Cavenzi is featured in today's Star. Below is an extract from the article.
Cavenzi is a homegrown brand by Cavenzi Design Sdn Bhd that fits this profile.
The company, which started exporting furniture 21 years ago, today has 43 retail outlets nationwide and, according to superboss Allan Ho, what makes the company tick is that it provides designer furniture at affordable prices.
“We let our prices do the talking so that now everybody can have designer furniture,” he told StarBiz.
The company sells sofas, mattresses, armchairs, “everyday furniture” such as bedroom and dining sets, and even room dividers.
“We cater to the middle and low-end market and provide good value,” he said.

NST has an article on hardwood timber flooring. Information about timber flooring was obtained from Netwood, a company specialising in timber flooring. Below is an extract from the article. Tan advises against mopping timber floors with lots of water and industrial cleaners as that can dull the finish, damage the wood and leave discoloured residues.
It’s better to wipe away stains immediately with a damp, soft cloth, or use a PH-neutral cleaner if necessary. Such methods are both economical and gentle to the hands and feet, he said.
"Homeowners can be rest assured they needn’t go to great lengths in caring for their hardwood flooring," Tan said.

A tongue-in-cheek look at the state and trends of today's televisions. ---------------------------
Televisions have come a long way since Scottish inventor, John Logie Baird, created the world's first working television system. Little did Baird know that he unwittingly also invented a whole new human culture called: watching TV.
In the past, people used to perform the activity of watching TV by sitting in front of bulky television boxes. Fast forward to today and people of the 21st century are STILL sitting in front of their televisions watching TV. You would think that mankind had not moved forward but there is progress! Instead of bulky boxes, televisions of today are sleek and thin. Thin televisions are all the rage these days. Nobody wants a fat television. If there was a contest where the prize was a fat television, no one would take part.

CloveTWO today features a home that is filled with loads of interesting ethnic themed items. Below is an extract from the article: DARK wood, mostly teak, has a place in every room in Gerard Ng's double-storey link house in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. Coming into the house, you may be enticed to sit on the Grobok, a teak storage chest turned into a broad bench. It's 100 years old, and it's from Indonesia. You can lift up a hatch in the bench and store things in it. You can also use it as a bed.
Another Grobok has been converted into a coffee table with glass panels. Gerard is the owner of Purser's Choice in Bangsar Village 2 and his house is naturally furnished with décor items from his shop.
"This is a one-theme, resort-style house," he said. "Coming home is like going on a holiday." Indeed. His living room opens out to a lush garden filled with heliconias, jungle ferns and palms. Lotuses grow in water in large earthenware jars. Balinese stone lamps throw light against the wall and strategically placed spotlights offer a different ambience at night.
