THIS modern tropical bungalow is the owner’s third project and he is happy to note that he’s moving away from what he calls the Thai and Balinese trend.
“My taste is changing. That is a good sign. I would not want to duplicate the style or use the same materials,” he says as he sips tea at the dining table while enjoying the green sanctuary behind his house.
“If I repeat a Balinese house, I cannot use high-tech stuff. Now that I am doing a relatively modern house, I can. And there are so many types of materials coming into the market. This is challenging and exciting for me. And as I continue to build houses, I learn more. It is this that I find rewarding.”
